
Saralee Terry Woods is the president of BookMan/BookWoman Books in Nashville and is an avid reader who frequently reviews books. Her bookstore, BookMan/BookWoman, has been consistently voted best-used bookstore by the Nashville Scene and by Nashville Woman. She and her husband Larry Woods are regulars on WTVF's television show Talk of the Town. They frequently appear on television programs such as The Plus Side of Nashville, Open Line and the Morning Edition, nationally syndicated radio shows, and they enjoy speaking to many civic groups and organizations about books.
She currently serves on the boards of Humanities Tennessee (Southern Festival of Books) and the Hillsboro Village Merchants Association. She was selected by Andrea Conte, the First Lady of Tennessee, to be the Chair of the first annual Luncheon on the Lawn to raise money for the Governor's Executive Residence. She is co-chair of the Salute to Excellence Awards Program for the Nashville Center for Non-Profit Management.
While she was president of CABLE, she led the move to incorporate CABLE as a 501c3 organization and created the CABLE Foundation. She is also a member of the Nashville Women's Breakfast Club, Leadership Nashville, the Women's National Booksellers Association, and the Nashville Women's Political Caucus. She served on the steering committee for the Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Tournament, chaired the ATHENA Awards Program, was recognized with the Spirit of Leadership Award and the Promote Women Award by CABLE, and was a finalist for the NAWBO small business award. As someone who believes in the importance of learning to read, Saralee is a Reading Ranger for Book'Em, and reads weekly to children who participate in the local Headstart program. She was the Breakfast Club and CABLE's nominee for the ATHENA Award and was given the Distinguished Sales and Marketing Award by the Sales and Marketing Executives of America. She is a leader of the Women's Forum at Woodmont Hills Family of God.
Woods authored Executive Temping - A Guide for Professionals, published by John Wiley & Sons. Her articles about the staffing industry have been published in National Business Employment Weekly, a Wall Street Journal publication, and her book has been highly praised by BookPage, Black Enterprise Magazine and The Tennessean.
Saralee Woods has a Masters Degree in Planning from the University of Tennessee, is a graduate of the Tennessee Government Executive Institute, and her varied background includes growing up in a politically-active family.
